    Underquilt temperature advice

Looking for some info before I order up a new underquilt. For the last few years I had no problem just using my neo air as bottle insulation in my setup. That was until I wanted to be more comfortable in colder weather and bought a zero degree incubator. Now that I know how much more comfortable using an underquilt is, what would you recommend for a second quilt temperature? Will be used later spring to early fall. Mostly in northeast, ADK, Whites , ect. Thanks!

I only have a 40°. But most have suggested just using what you have and venting it.

This has been discussed a lot around here and we all have our opinions so again here's mine. If I only had one quit for 3 season use it would be a 20°. For year round use where I live I have a 0° for the coldest weather, a 20° for most use and a 40° for spring time and summer. So 0-20-40 for me. I always use a 10° buffer for cold weather and vent when it's warmer.

If your set on a 2nd set, for your location a 30 degree set would be handy! Zero for the cold stuff and the 30 once spring hits!

Solid setup. I'll even pair my 40 TQ and 30 UQ.

Whatever you have, get to know it. There are so many variables. With a 20° quilt, it's not like 23° is guaranteed comfort and 18° is "time to go home".

I've taken my 20° down to 3° and 0° down to -16° without the slightest hesitation. Zero cold spots, not even close. But that 10° safety margin should never fail you.

I would love to have a 0 through 40 kit! I've been using my zero underquilt and a EE Revelation 20 degree with a homemade climashield summer quilt on top for the winter . I was thinking a 30 would fill in the gap I'm looking for. I will do some more research. Thanks for the response!

30 degree is what I've been thinking about most! Would seem to be a good rating for the rest of the season

I love my zero it just takes up a lot of pack space in the warmer months. Especially when I'm trying to cram it all into a frameless pack.

If I had only 1 quilt other than my down -10° Incubator, it would be be my 30° "ish" synthetic Snugpak UQ. I would use the Snugpak from early spring to late fall, venting when needed, and the 'Bator when it got too cold for the Snugpak ( somewhere in the mid-20's with proper clothing and TQ). As for only 2 TQ's , I'd go with my -10° Burrow, and again the synthetic 30° Snugpak for 3 seasons. For me and where I live this setup would get me through all year no matter the weather or temp.

A 40 degree is going to pack a lot smaller than a 30 degree, so if the 0 degree isn’t too big to take on the shoulder season, the 40 degree is really nice for the warm weather.
