Anyone used the SLD UQ with a wide (72") hammock?

Width won't make any difference. I've used mine on hammocks between 58" wide to 70" wide with no discernible difference.
    YMMV

That's good to hear, thanks Peppy!

With the 70" hammock did you have to do any additional fiddling to get it right or was it just as straight forward as with a 58" hammock?

In trying to visualize it, it seems like you would want to the UQ to be close to the width of the hammock. You can just hang it and everything matches up. But I guess as long as the insulated portion covers your body, it doesn't matter how wide the hammock is. Is that logic in the right ballpark?

Yes, the logic seems right. I didn't do anything different. You pretty much settle on the insulation no matter the width. I have found there to be plenty of coverage so I didn't notice a difference even if my angle was slightly off on the lay. I may be a rare bird, but haven't set it up poorly yet!

Anyone have photos of their SLD underquilts? I'm just thinking about color-- seems like it would pretty much cover up most of your hammock's color, but wanted to verify. EDIT: looked at the original post-- looks like one side of the hammock is still relatively unobscured. Interesting!

I'm curious what your current pattern is. I find that standard 44" underquilts require me to choose a head and foot orientation, even if I move around (sleeping on one side to another, etc). I want to say that my custom 54" wide Incubator from HG allows me more freedom, but I have to admit that I haven't been totally switching head/foot orientation in the night... it just seems to provide foot and shoulder coverage more consistently (I'm on the tall side @ 6'4").

I'll probably try one of these from Jared and see how it goes.

Heres the link to Jared's Trail Winder. Scroll through the pics on the left hand side as well as click the videos links. I feel you will get a good idea about what your inquiring about. Hope that helps

How does this compare to a down under quilt like Hammock Gear Econ? It seems like it's 1/2 the weight but what about performance?
