Ordered my custom 3.6 oz - 40 deg F Trail Winder last Wednesday (Dark Olive Argon 90 w/Argon 90 Woodland Camo covering the Apex insulation) along with a companion Simplicity asym tarp in Dark Olive Xenon .9 sil & rec'd my shipping notice today. Can't wait to check them out!

Jared is so easy to work with & excels in customer service & order turnaround time. Fun to work with... thanks too to ShortRound for your Trail Winder video review!

Hey CVKealey! It really depends with regarding your build - height, l am 5'7 and have a 9ft trail winder this fits all my hammocks including my Chameleon, giving me a good amount of insulation to keep me covered.

I would suggest 9 or 10 feet. I have an 11 foot and find it to be a bit fiddly. Because the underquilt body is the same length as my hammock, the underquilt attachment points need to be extended beyond the hammock continuous loops. If I were to do it again, I'd order a 10' Trail Winder.

I used mine (40 degree version) on my Memorial Day weekend trip and it worked amazingly. if I had to do it over again I would get it done 2 tone where the material that is not covering the installation would be black. I had him do the stitching in lime.

    here is a few pictures:

So, that answers one of my two remaining questions (will the whole thing be the same color, since all the other photos seem to be two-tone). Last question: where along the length of the hammock does this put the insulation? I tend to sleep with my feet a bit closer to the foot end than my head is to the head end, so my legs end up slightly elevated. This seems to minimize shoulder squeeze for me and be most comfortable. I'm sure this can be shifted up or down a bit, but assuming it's centered, will the insulation be centered as well?

Finally, I'm really leaning towards a 40 degree in Moroccan Blue, so, if you did happen to want to do it over again, I might be willing to take that one off your hands at retail.

I went with the 9ft version which the site says is the standard UQ length and I would say the installation for it is pretty much centered. didn't really pay that much attention to it but it was fine for the way I lay (head closer to the foot end). thanks for the offer to buy it it I'm going to keep it, already got this one dialed in

Got it, thanks! Now I just need to make up my mind between this and a 40 degree HG Phoenix. That would cost and weigh a bit less (~$20 [on sale] and ~4 oz.), but this seems like a better multi-tasker.

With the 9ft you can adjust the position to head or foot end with provided line loc and/or by taking up slack of shock cord. I posted pic earlier in this thread.

Is the insulated portion the same size on the 9, 10, or 11 ft versions?
