I just used my new 50 degree trail winder underquilt this past weekend. At 44 degrees it was kinda cold. At 55 degrees it was still a bit cool but quite doable. I am a cold sleeper and don't plan on using it below 60 degrees anyways. I love how easy it is to set up once you have fit it to your hammock. Its just loop it on one end and clip it on the other, just like my wookie. Big thumbs up.

How does it compare to the Wookie for fitment?
Looking for a Wooki style UQ for my sons WBBB XLC, but synthetic.

I think you just sold 2 of these, hope your getting a commission
How do you feel the temp rating is ?
We kayak camp (in WV)starting in mid may through mid October.
We will see 2 or so trips where it gets in the mid-upper 30's at night, then the rest of the year it is low of 50-60 at night (mountains).

Do you feel the 40deg UQ is comfy at 40 deg?

    Thanks,
    Slack

Unfortunately there has been this radical bi polar weather in VA .when I get the opportunity to camp with the trail winder it’s been low of 32. As of now it’s just wonderful . Now I’ve been to the apex climashelid rating down to 22 in my kaq & it served well but wouldn’t push it beyond

Everybody sleeps differently be it cold or warm so i don't want to make a blanket statement . What i will say for my experience with Apex Climashield is that the ratings seemed on par & true to the claim.

Sorry it took a while to reply. It actually fits a bit better than the wookie. The wookie does not have the side shock cords like the trail winder so it looks loose on the sides but keeps me warm anyways. The trail winder has the side cords that allows tightening so it keeps it up higher on the sides. If you want a synthetic style wookie then this is it.

If you keep hoping, Warbonnet might come through. I saw this on Instagram the other day. Someone asked for a synthetic Diamondback and Warbonnet hinted at it being a future possibility.

I really like the idea of the ways UQ, but I flip and flip way too much in my hammock and I could have an issue staying warm. Hope someone brings one of these to one of our Michigan group hangs, because I'd like to check it out.

The ultimate temp rating of a quilt or apparel is subject to several variables, but as a rough guide, the following temperature ratings can be expected when using single-layers of Climashield® APEX insulation:

    2.5 oz - 50o F
    3.6 oz - 40o F
    5.0 oz - 30o F
    7.5 oz - 10o F
    10 oz - -5o F
