New Jersey Winter Hang 2019, 12th Annual, Trip Report

Congrats to Porkroll for winning the Coup de Grace de Grub cookoff for his Chicken and Dumplings. They were delicious.

Thanks to the organizers and the cooks. We all benefitted from your awesome work.

    Thanks to the raffle donors.

My thermometer had a nighttime low of 12 on Fri and 17 on Sat.

I had a great time, but for some reason I had leftover sticky buns and actually brought a few home. How is that possible?

    Post your photos/memories...

I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.

Thank you jellyfish. I am so happy that I won. I didn’t think that would happen! I had a great time with old friends, and making new friends. I can’t wait for the next group hang.

SO MUCH GOOD FOOD! Jelly, we ate so much. As delicious as the sticky buns are, we had no room left! First breakfast, second breakfast, sticky buns, bacon, Porkroll made Porkroll!

Even before Saturday dinner competition, we had tacos ( beef and chicken), Dutch oven pizza, beef stew, taco cheese dip, fettuccini Alfredo, hot dogs, cookies, Dutch oven nacho cheese bake. Thanks to all the chefs!
Thank to Coffee Man for doing, what else?.....making fresh roasted and fresh ground coffee non stop!

I always make it a habit to visit every camp throughout the weekend. Nice to see everyone again. Thanks for the raffle donations, especially to Ynot for the honey that I won in the raffle. Thanks to the food competition chefs...everything was really very good. Chicken and dumplings were great but so was everything else. Honorable mention to the shepards pie, meat pot, and chili.

Weather was COLD but great for sleeping. Thanks to Cave Man for organizing the firewood delivery for the site 1 NJ Hammock Club crew. Thanks to other people for being a part of the NJ Hammock Club Facebook page and group.

    Congrats PorkRoll!

I had another great evening at Batona with folks familiar and new. I measured a low of 19 Saturday night under my tarp - I slept like a stone. This was the first NJ Winter hang I made and I found it surprisingly different from the other Pine Barrens hangs I've attended. It felt a little more like MAHHA. I think it is the cold that breaks the crowd up into smaller campfires so everyone can be close and not in somebody else's fire shadow.

Thanks Iafte and Stick for putting this shindig together.

Jelly, if I'd known your famous stickies were still around you wouldn't have had to take them home.

To all who didn't try my chicken gumbo-your loss.

I love Buddy’s new coat... purple is one of my favorite colors
Congratulations on winning the Coup de Grace de Grub cookoff. Chicken and Dumplings is another favorite. Maybe sometime I’ll get to try them.

Jellyfish - I STILL haven’t tried your sticky buns yet.

I saw her sticky buns - I wanted her sticky buns, but I was too full to actually eat one.
