Snake Skins- what features do you like

I am getting ready to buy some Snake Skins for the first time, and I'm having trouble deciding on what features I want.

Do I go with silnylon or mesh? I'm leaning toward mesh for air flow if the tarp is wet and also to trap less air while stuffing it away. Does silnylon have any advantages?

Is a one piece or two piece snake skin more practical?

Your experiences and comments will be appreciated.

I prefer mesh for the reason you described. And I also prefer the one piece design. It's easier to slide on- no bunching of the fabric in the middle like you get with the two piece.

Has my vote - I used Window Sheer material from Walmart to make mine but for same reasons.

I vote for one-piece mesh skins. I find one-piece easier to deal with, especially since I roll up my tarp from one end. I like the mesh because it can dry itself out faster when it is bunched up at the tarp line when the tarp is deployed. Mesh skins will not dry out a rolled or bunched up tarp inside the skin.

I got mesh from Mountain goat and yes the pockets are great for storing RL.

Agreed. IF you can, have the pockets made long enough for your stakes...one less thing to grab.

I'm having a custom catch-all sack made with a pocket for stakes and my straps. Should arrive Friday...!

I have a mesh snake skins with pockets on each end from Dutch. It is two pieces and works nice. Although a one piece should be better.

Mesh, one piece. A pouch at the large end for the ridgeline is nice.
