Introducing 1.0 oz MONOLITE Ripstop Nylon Mesh

The breathability of noseeum mesh combined with the durability of fabrics twice as heavy. Today we're extremely proud to introduce 1.0 oz MONOLITE Ripstop Nylon Mesh to the community...

Ultralight woven fabrics are great for quilts and garments. But durability can take a nosedive for stressing applications like hammocks and bags.

MONOLITE was specifically developed to combat this problem. Constructed with a unique monofilament yarn and mesh weave, this fabric has the best durability we've EVER seen for the weight - and by a wide margin.

But don't take our word for it. Here's a quick video:

In this video, we only showed a comparison to 0.9 oz Noseeum and 1.1 oz Ripstop Nylon, but the same thing holds when comparing to much heavier fabrics.

In a nutshell, this fabric breaks the mold as it can be used for:

    1) Ultralight Hammock Fabric

    and/or

    2) Super Durable Noseeum Mesh

Used as a hammock fabric, it's strong plus much more resistant to snagging and abrasion than fabrics of similar weight (e.g. 1.1 oz Ripstop Nylon).

As a mesh, it simply blows away traditional options like 0.9 oz Noseeum. It's stronger, way more durable, and insanely breathable with a CFM over 1000 (you can access our full data sheet here).

Lastly, whether used as a fabric or mesh, it's stiffer with more structure than your typical ultralight fabric. This makes it VERY easy to sew.

I'm not sure when this will make it out to vendors, but it's available for DIY right now. We're really excited about this one if you can't tell. So much so that we're launching with 15% OFF regular pricing for the next week. Just use code "MONO-15" at checkout when you place an order.

As always, thanks so much for your continued support of what we do. . Feel free to comment here with any questions...

So, is this more breathable than 0.5 oz NS50 noseeum?

What’s the maximum safe weight a hammock in this material could hold?

I don't have specific numbers for the NS50, but we tested a 20D noseeum mesh like our 0.9 oz Noseeum to a CFM of ~1300. So this is slightly less air permeable, but honestly these numbers are all insanely high. I doubt that in practice you'd notice a functional difference between noseeum mesh and the MONOLITE. There's no resistance whatsoever when you blow or breathe through the fabric.

I’m glad you are explicitly marketing it as a mesh net alternative as one of it’s applications. That should make it more likely for vendors to adopt it for that use too.

We're putting 200 lbs on it. We've tested it with more than that of course, but we'd rather less people buy this fabric than have a bunch of folks pushing limits and winding up disappointed. At the end of the day, if used as a hammock fabric, this is still ultralight and should be treated with caution.

It's more expensive than standard noseeum yes, but in terms of performance, there's is absolutely no comparison. Less snagging, better sewability, off the charts durability, etc.

Plus, you could conceivably have the world's first integrated bugnet hammock that uses the same material for the body and net. Although I might beat you to that one .

Actually, I’m hoping to own the world’s first Eldorado with a Monolite top )) Email request to Warbonnet already sent hours ago, lol.

Maybe also the first Monolite ridgeline mini gear hammock too…

    Couple other things to consider:

    1) Strength - Weight rating will be 200 lbs. We've tested it with more than that of course, but we'd rather less people buy this fabric than have a bunch of folks pushing limits and winding up disappointed. At the end of the day, if used as a hammock fabric, this is still ultralight and should be treated with caution.

    2) Stretch - This is always a subjective one, but based on several opinions from folks that have tried every hammock fabric under the sun, the 1.0 oz MONOLITE has low stretch for a UL hammock fabric. Less than our 1.0 oz HyperD and 1.1 oz Ripstop Nylon for sure.

    3) Softness - Not as soft as other 1.0/1.1 fabrics, but not hard or rough by any means. Best way I can describe the hand feel is "different" than other woven fabrics. This is mainly due to the construction and monofilament yarn.
