    No issues with creeping..

    • Length of finished bury is 10" (I believe the combination of the taut line hitch and whipping at the exit of the bury make a huge difference in the holding power of the 10" bury)
    • Minimum length is 24"
    • Maximum length is 7' (way more than I have ever used)
    • weight is a third of an ounce per ucr. could be a bit lighter by changing out the Amsteel button knot. The first set had a Dynaglide button captured by Dynaglide continuous loops on the hammock.

That's a very interesting minimalistic setup. I'm curious to know more about the button knot end, and how it attached to a CL. The tautline/whipping part I follow from reading a long thread on UCR suspension a while back.

So all of my suspension options (other than when a strap direct to the CL) terminate in a button knot. Done in Amsteel the button is more robust than in Dynaglide. The ends of the button are buried inside themselves using a locked brummel, though when creating them now, I use Jeff Myers technique which leaves four strands under the button rather than two. The knot is attached to the Dynaglide using an Albright knot, and here again, the end of the Dynaglide is buried in itself to lock it.

All of my continuous loops have a locked whipping knot slider. Basically it is a simple whipping knot, with the ends pulled through the CL to prevent the slider from coming off the end of the CL.

The CL drops over the button knot and the slider secures it. Shown below with Dynaglide CL..

I've tried Jeff Myers 'knot through the loop' technique which does the same, but eliminates the slider, however other than for guy lines and ridge lines don't care for the extreme bends it puts in loop.

Same setup using all Amsteel if that's your preference...

Very cool! Thanks for the links, I may have to copy this for a weight weenie setup using Monolite. I guess you use drip lines, or do the tails from the button eliminate the need for those?

You mean the diamond knot, right? Why bother with a locked brummel for burying the ends? Or am I mixing up where this locked brummel you’re referring to is?

Are you saying you use a button knot now and bury them back in the loop (making an evo loop), instead of a diamond knot with back spliced ends? Are you somehow locking the ends of the evo loops as well?

Also, have you tried this technique? Maybe a little less bendy than Jeff’s way?

No you're correct.. on these it's a diamond knot. The legs exit the top of the knot. Once the diamond is set (after a few hangs), I would lock the legs tight at the top of the diamond and then back-splice to make them neat and create a constrictor. This is to prevent any chance of the legs being sucked back into the diamond when under load.

Yes. Once I learned to tie the buttons used in the evo loops I no longer used the diamond knot. Better to hang on four strands than two. That said, I haven't changed these...

And no... I tie the evo loops exactly how Jeff does it. With the legs exiting the bottom of the knot and buried in the loop.

I have seen it, but haven't used it. I have no problem with the 'knot between the legs' on light duty applications.. ridge line or modular guy lines (I use that on my asym tarp so it's easy to move the ridge lines from one ridge tie out to another) but I don't want to hang on it.

I use the evo loops on the tree end of the straps as well. I used to use Grapplers hitch but find the evos much easier to attach.. easy to do one handed.

    My Monolite order arrived yesterday...

The plan was to make another Half Wit Clone using 0.67 noseeum.. Now I am not so sure.

How is the Monolite as bug net material?? It's giving up just a little weight to the noseeum. Are those of you who used the Monolite for bug net happy with it or should I use the noseeum?

I love the ability to see through the hammock. I made a DIY UQ with a Costco throw and being able to see how the UQ is situated under the hammock is awesome
