Ogee Tarp - Do folks still use this tarp?

    Hi everyone,
I have been looking at the Ogee Tarp for a while now. I am planning to replace my existing worn out tarps with two new DIY tarps. I want to eliminate the ridgeline seam and the Ogee Tarp design does that. I'm interested if folks have issues or concerns with the tarp design so I can make my final decision. I currently use DIY cant cut hex design tarp.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

I do not make them any more.
    I still use mine.
The Ogee design is 3 season for most.
If you got any questions feel free to ask.

Hi Gargoyle. I noted that you are the Ogee guy in the previous posts I read. I love the flexibility of the tarp. I was thinking of modifying the design to incorporate additional panels from the midpoint of the triangle to the tip of the door. I think it may give it additional weather protection at a minimal weight gain. I have attached a jpg to help show what I am talking about.

I am thinking this would almost make a protective weather shield below my underquilt redundant. There would be a negative weight gain by being able to remove the weather shield from my gear.
Have you thought of something like this modification?

I feel making a "full" winter-style tarp, even if you leave the doors smaller (like Warbonnet's Mini, etc), will not weigh much more than your design, will be WAY easier and less time-consuming, and provide better coverage. Just food for thought.

Otherwise, I would use the original OGEE design.

I made four Ogee tarps. Two of which are huge they were constructed with extra wide fabric.
Really a great design with lots of options. Using Gargoyles design helped me realize I like making tarps. Really a fun project.

I agree about the weight difference being not much less than a full winter tarp. I am not concerned with a couple extra seams they won't add significant time to the build. Just looking to maximize coverage and still maintain the flexibility of the original Ogee design. I definitely get what your saying though.

I enjoy the DIY process and oddly the sewing....... I have various designs for all kinds of hammock related stuff. Some work, some don't. Gargoyles design is truly great but I can't help but tinker with it.

I made one and liked it a lot. That is until it ripped at the "center seam" on both sides. I chalk it up to my sewing skills at that time.
