Y stakes without blowing the budget

I’m after any input on Y stakes that don’t cost as much as the common favorites.
I just can’t justify that much coin for a stake.
I know I can get some real cheapies of eBay/Amazon, but I know they would be weak.
I’m chasing something with a brand name that might be almost as good as the groundhogs.
I did read somewhere that odoland use the same 7075 Aluminium. Anyone had and hands on experience with these?

I bought THESE off the shelf at Walmart a couple of years ago. I think I paid $0.97 each.

I don't like them, as they seem to want to bend if you manage to drive them into hidden roots (which are surprisingly common around hammock hanging trees!). I'm still using them, but I'm not happy with them.

I think that you get what you pay for. Do you really want a cheap stake breaking at the most inconvenient time? Dutchware has them for $1.50 and I haven't had a problem with them at all, but freight is going to cost you unless you have something else that you need from Dutch (doesn't everybody?). Otherwise, a trip to the local Melbourne co-op is probably your best bet.

I was writing the same thing about Dutch’s options. I missed that you were in Melbourne though.

I've been using these 8 for $12 for 3 years:

A little dinged up, but still perfectly fine.

I picked up and use what you describe as cheapies. They were $0.20 each on Aliexpress. They are typical Y stakes and work just fine. I have had one bend 90 deg. when a car ran over it. It did not break. I just bent it back and hammered it flat enough and still use it. Though it does have a bit of a twist in it now. If they ever do wear out... or most likely lost, left behind, etc. so what, they were $0.20.

The Dutchware stakes are better quality, like the Sierra Designs I have. MSR is always good.

The rest of the goofy name brands on Amazon are OK, but they definitely cut corners on quality/durability. If you're just pushing them into loose soil like I do, there's absolutely no problem. But the first time I lightly hit one with a hammer, the top bent clean 90°.

Yep, the loose soil here as well and I use the Coghlan's orange Y stakes from Walmart. Like everything else, I try to be careful when using the less quality items and yes, they do bend some. When that does, just slowly and carefully bend them back.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

I use the TNH Outdoors tri-beam stakes and have no complaints at all. They are available from Amazon for $20 for 10 and are much better quality than the cheap Chinese stakes. That said, I also use the cheaper KUNGIX tri-beam stakes which are only $10 for 10 from Amazon and they have held up just as well as the TNH stakes.
