Ridgerunner question

I received my ridgerunner yesterday, and slept in it last night. Very comfortable. Two questions -

1. What is the purpose of the line tobble and loop of bungee attached to it at the head of the hammock?

2. What is the purpose of the two feet of loose black cord in the plastic bag?

If memory serves me correct, the toggle at head can go through spreader bar to pull out and black cord is for your drip lines.

The toggle may seem more useful if you shorten the head-end spreader bar slightly (by taking out the short middle section); it holds the cloth back from flopping on your face.

The loose black cord can be tied onto your suspension (at head and foot ends), to stop the rain from dripping along the suspension and reaching your hammock.

i ordered a RR during their black holiday sale and the head-end spreader is in 3 pieces. the middle piece is a male on both ends, so there's no way to shorten it by excluding the middle piece.

also, i never got a drip line. that's just an extra bungee cord?

The old spreader bar set used to have a 4" middle piece (male/female ends). You had a choice of using it or not.

The old spreader bars had pieces that were 20" long, plus that odd 4" piece. The current bar set packs shorter, more compact.

The new spreader bars nest inside of each other. Head end and foot end poles respectfully.
