Almost nothing in nature is truly black, so that would stand out. If you want to blend in, go charcoal grey.

I just bought a new tarp and went with charcoal grey. Black is a little "in your face" and noticeable (like mentioned above) in my opinion so the grey looked better to me...

After having many olive drab tarps, I'm really liking my new charcoal gray!
I really like the "neutral" color of light it lets in during the winter time when light is at a minimum anyway.
Another vote for the charcoal grey. Also looks great when lit up from the inside at night. In the winter, it blends right in. I saw one-clicks at a recent hang and it's a work of art!
I want a tarp made of Vantablack. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s the darkest material ever created and absorbs 99.96% of light. You literally can’t even see a laser light when it shines on it.
It might make finding your hammock again on those late night pee breaks a little difficult though.

I have one of each but don't have a preference. My grey tarp has black details and my black tarp has grey details on the underside.
I like Camo tarps. To each their own as they say.....YMMV
