Questions about first diy under quilt for ridge runner

I want to use my Costco quilt to make aunder quilt for my ridge runner and I have several questions
    1. Do I measure the hammock hanging up the dimensions to use for the top layer closest to the body with somebody in it to make a template?

    2. Once I have my template do I use the same template to cut out to Costco quilt for the bottom and if so how many inches wider and longer does the Costco quilt need to be then my actual template so that I have a proper differential?

    Thanks so much

After I made an UQ for my gathered end hammock, my wife liked it so much that she kind of confiscated it. More like I gave in because I had a few Costco throws to convert for myself.

She has a Chrysalis Bridge, not a RR, but the UQ works very well for all 3 different hammocks even though I made it wider for use in my GE.

I believe you can make your UQ to use in either type of hammock as long as the suspension is long enough for the bridge. The upside is the RR will open up the UQ and you will sink into it sealing all 4 sides nicely.

I used the available blank to use as my template (rectangle) instead of trying to make a very specific template and form the UQ around that. The good news is that since the UQ will open up (being pulled on all 4 corners) it's a little more forgiving than trying to cinch the ends or even using darts to narrow the ends.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
