My first night in the new JRB BMBH

My first night in the new JRB Bear Mountain Bridge Hammock. I bought this bridge hammock because I have trouble sleeping in a GE hammock. My issues include the calf ridge, keeping the UQ up tight depending on the position (side or back), and a feeling of being waterboarded after a period of time laying on my back. First set up was a bit different than a GE. Tried to use a ridge line set at 9’3”, but it never really got tight until it was just about full horizontal. The literature with the hammock said 9’3” to 9’6” between the rings. I found that at 9’3” the bug net had trouble zipping (too much sag, creating tension on the zipper) so I tightened the suspension and took it to 9’4” between the rings and the net zipped fine after that.

It was very comfortable for me, being that I am primarily a side sleeper, interspersed with general tossing and turning. I used a blow-up pillow and it was the best nights sleep I’ve ever had in a hammock. I slept from 10pm to 5:30am (my normal hours). I was pleased to have slept the night through, without even a pee break!

It only got down to about 37 degrees, so it was not a cold weather test, but I had no issues with UQ or TQ fiddling even with the aforementioned tossing and turning. It was no more complicated than typical blanket manipulation in bed. Two thumbs up at this point.

Congrats. The beauty of bridges is the elimination of all quilt fiddling.

UQ was the JRB Greylock 4 and TQ was the JRB High Sierra Sniveller.

Has anyone tried putting a Space Blanket in the pad sleeve on one of these Bear Mountain Bridge Hammocks? If so, how did it work? Any issues?
