Trying out the Hammock Bandwagon

Rochester native, went to school in Eastern Washington, transplanted to Charlotte. I am primarily a ground dweller but after a few nights of sore, bony hips I'm ready for a change from my CCF pad. Purchased an REI hammock system when it was highly on-sale to see if I'd like it, but also am trying an air pad for my beloved Brooks Range sleeping bag + tarp. Most excited to hike pretty places (plus have that first cup of coffee + breakfast in camp in the morning

) but also stoked to wake up sans bruised hips + sore shoulders.

It's a wonderful Bandwagon filled with great folk from all over.

Find a group hang and see all the different styles of hammocks. If you have a little time on your hands, come on down to Florida on the 24th-28th or anytime in between to HangCon 2019 and see over 200 systems and all the different ways to hang a hammock.

Welcome from Charlotte. There’s a hang coming up in Uwharrie NF - Yates Place. Good one to attend to see some gear and talk to like minded folks. I’d tell you the date but I’ve been known to get it wrong so best check the trip planning thread.
