Ahh... I missed that the first time. Cheap and heavier, look at amazon. Lots of options there. The others mentioned are all good. The asyms are very minimalist, but can serve if you have good site selection, and careful pitching. Lighter weight=more $, which I’m sure you already realized. A standard hex is most peoples go to for 3 season coverage. I prefer my silpoly 11x10, for a small weight gain, I get doors.

I'd be very tempted to try one of the HG tarps currently on sale:

    The Quest II at $59.99

    https://www.hammockgear.com/the-quest-ii-coyote-brown/

Or the Journey II at $79.99:

I can't say if either one is a great tarp, but I do know it's a great price. I've got six quilts and a cuben fiber tarp from HG, and they're all great quality.

Can't go wrong with an Eagles Nest Outfitters ProFly.

That tarp would not be on my recommendation list: at a length of 10' 6", it's too short for an 11 ft. hammock and it is not wide enough at 6' 4" width to withstand even the slightest blowing rain. Just about any tarp listed above will have better coverage.

I like the size and economy of the asyms, and that was what I looked at first, but neither of us has really confidently figured out our lay yet so I was concerned that would not be the way to go without knowing for sure which direction we will lay.

I have had my Kelty Noah's tarp for several years now. Great tarp at a great price.
A few years back I was in the BWCA and we had high winds for 2 consecutive days. We also had a very heavy downpour one of the days. I was very concerned that the tarp might fail, but it didn't. No tears on the tie outs. I think it really helped that I was able to use all the tie outs.

I am planning on getting a HG Dyneema tarp this spring. But I am still keeping the Kelty.

I started with Hammocking with an ENO One-Link system including the ProFly. It is not a suitable tarp for anything but the mildest weather. With due respect to Trecker8, do not consider the ENO ProFly.

Armadillo Hanger, what price is your "won't break the bank" range?

Somewhere around $100 give or take is probably a good range but that is a little flexible depending on features and extras. If we start getting up there too high it would just make more sense to buy 1 Winter Haven from the get go. The Winter Haven in the biggest size with all the bells and whistles is around $400 so it would be nice to keep 2 individual tarps below $250.

Taking all your feedback into account, the $110 Dutchware Xenon Hex seems like a strong contender. It's one of the better priced options that comes in colors other than coyote and olive. Great tarp also; my wife and I each have one.

But I can't believe I forgot about the Penny Pincher series from UGQ! An 11 footer with stuff sack is $85 or a 12 footer is $90. Vibrant colors including orange, blue, green, & purple. UGQ makes a fine tarp as well.

Very nice. The Penny Pincher looks like a great choice. Hopefully, I can grab one on two while they are still on sale.

Thank you, everyone, for all the feedback. I appreciate it so much.
