Another Aussie jumping on the bandwagon

    Hey all,

I can’t remember what got me started but I ended up watching Shug’s videos and didn’t get to sleep until about 3 o’clock in the morning.

A few days later I bought my first Hammock. After laying in it for a short while I realised I needed an under quilt. So I made my own. I also made a YouTube video about it. It’s called “Cheap hammock underquilt made from sleeping bag”.

I know it’s nothing new to you guys but you get to see my ugly mug and put a face to the name.

I have made a half Turtledog stand to camp with my car but the rod I used for the brace bent too much for my liking. Anyone use timber or any other sturdy ideas? Weight is not a problem because I just chuck it on my roof racks.

All the best and happy new year to all!

Thanks mate. Got some heavier pipe for the ridge line took it out the other night. Worked a treat and slept like a baby.

I think I might call it the Crozdog

Welcome to the madness and addiction that is hammock camping. I'm liking that crozdog stand.

    Thanks guys,

I’m in Melbourne. I took my son down to Torquay and stayed in a caravan park for the test run. He slept in the back of the car and I hung outside.

Got some inquisitive passers by with a few questions. Most just wished me luck...

I’m now looking for some nice places to hang in my local area (Macedon Ranges about 70km/44 miles northwest of Melbourne CBD). Even just for the day. Chill out, read a book, probably nap a lot...

Gotta do a bug net now and organise a suitable tarp setup for when I can’t hang off my car.

    Cheers.
