This is my backyard spot, shot a few winters ago - I love hanging on the worst weather nights of the year! We don't get a lot of snow and it's often freezing rain, so you have to challenge yourself when you can. Towards the front of the house is a typical suburban neighborhood, but the back is mostly 500-yr flood plain with a small creek running through it and plenty of deer, coyotes, and owls, so it's actually quite bucolic back there.

Bahaha! My daughter would kill me if I hung my hammock up at her school!

Well, technically it wasn't her school, it was another school in the county, but yeah, she did give me the ubiquitous eye roll, but hey, it's Spring and 70 deg....perfect weather and time for a hang vs sitting in the car waiting for her. No matter what parents do, they embarrass their kids anyway!

Heres mine. First time Ive set it up in the yard. Learned Im going to need some longer tree straps. Had to improvise with tow straps on one tree.
edit: Not sure why its turning the photo upside down.

Between a Spartan apple tree and a Bartlett pear tree, amusing the folks in the nursing home behind me.

nice quick location in the backyard. When I fire up the chimenea, it is almost like camping...

In order to sleep outside as many nights as possible regardless of weather I made a sort of tent pad, or in this case a ‘hammock pad’ on the dirt covered wooded hillside behind our home. It’s a nice level standing area and helps avoid muddy runoff/splatter. Even had a tree service remove ‘iffy’ limbs/branches in order to make it the perfect backyard hang spot. I’m all set now,…day or night.
