Thanks for the writeup, and Happy New Year!

I will definitely be following your differential advice when I finally attempt my Wooki-like UQ. Had been thinking that customizing the baffle placement for body position would be a good idea, and you've done it.

How does the finished product work?

Also thanks for the info on Rose Feather. The stuff I bought last year is still sitting here... I'm slightly disappointed (though not surprised), but I figure it will be OK for a first attempt.

    Works great

We tested it out the other day

The shoulder area experiences a tad compression

Add plenty of differential along the shoulder area and the bum for sure!!

The loft is about 2-2.5 inches

That spot on the shoulder had many 1.75 inches and it’s small - otherwise it’s very fluffy all over!

Looks nice! (I meant "customizing the dart placement" but you probably knew that)

    Yep!

    As it relates to differential

My first UQ I made was a big ol Orange sorta wooki copy - I did no lengthwise Differential - the result was severe compression in some key areas and zero compression in other areas

I simply in the areas with compression added pleats of the inner shell fabric that span the full width of the inner shell...did four 1 inch pleats - that fixed the problem

That quilt is still in use now - that is another good way to do the differential - certainly is less elegant though lol

Lots of useful detail. Thanks. Try clews someday. I haven't used them on underquilts (just GE hammock ends and bridge sides) but leiavoia's work looks impressive.

    I’ve followed those threads

The wooki is a clew - only a fabric one directly already part of the suspension.

I’ve actually made a clew of sorts on one of these recent ones - works good

See at 41:00 and on in the video

Works great! Lots of tension on the UQ body and that is really what helps make the fit so good!

The lengthwise diff is crucial when using higher tension on the fabric for sure
