I guess I'm a rebel. I use two inch straps that have loops sewn into the ends. The loops are then bound to each other and the whoopie slings with a soft shackle.

No longer use whoopies, but when I did I used the MSH to attach the whoopie's fixed eye to the strap and had a Dutch whoopie hook in the adjustable end.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

    whoopi slings to tree straps...

Another vote for the Marlinspike hitch!

I tried larks heading the whoopies to the straps at first but found that using the Marlinspike gave a lot more flexibility / I didn't have to wrap the straps around the trees a bunch of times for shorter hangs.

Marlinspike and toggle since the beginning of my hammock days. It works and I’m to lazy to try something else. If it ain’t broke...

When I used whoopies I used Dutch biners. Now I might use soft shackles.

Still using whoopies lark's head to my hammock and MSH to my straps. Toggle is an arrow shaft cutoff that i got from Gander Mountain. Just asked guy that cuts arrows for some cutoffs, and free toggles.
Now with the MSH in cold temps has anyone had freezing problems? Was out last weekend, rained all Friday evening and turned to snow and temps dropped. The MSP in my straps froze and it was a P.I.T.A. to get out. Actually was the first time I was thinking of doing something else for suspension.

Switched to becket hitch with venom straps this year and I’ll never go back. Minimum hang distance was an issue on numerous occasions using whoopies or UCRs. Becket straight to CL for me.
