    Mt Cammerer (GSMNP)

I got to finish off my backpacking for 2018 with a couple nights in the Smokies. I hiked up Big Creek for the first day and then up to the AT and the Mt Cammerer firetower and then back down to my car. I got really lucky with weather and had a couple perfect days in the outdoors.

Wow. Great pics and beautiful hike. We just left the Smokies on Sunday but didn't have any luck hiking much as it rained last Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. Saturday was the only day without a total rain out.

So you stayed there overnight? How much space in the tower?

It would almost be worth carrying a 3lb belt sander

It might be lighter to bring a can of graffiti remover and a small scrub brush

You have to stay at designated campsites in GSMNP, the closest are the AT shelters, either Cosby Knob or Davenport Gap, both are about 3 miles from the fire lookout. The AT is relatively flat between Cosby Knob and the lookout and easy hiking with an almost full moon.
