All of you guys have great ideas, clearly explained. This thread should be a sticky. My UCRs are similar to BackcountryBowhunting's.

This has been a great UCR primer for me.

I assumed (idiotically... yet again) that you simply thread the bury thru and are good to go. Duh.

In it's most basic form.. what you describe would work.

The safety steps with ucrs, IMHO, are adequate bury length, keeping some kind of tension in end opposite the constrictor end and some sort of stopper in the event the constrictor does slip, or fail... in that order. We've covered them all above I think..

Any chance of getting out this Sunday / Monday? I may have gotten a pass for those two days.

    Prevent UCR Slippage

This was my solution to prevent my UCR’s from slipping. I spliced them with locked brummels on both ends of the piece that the hammock is connected to. (The green Amsteel in the photo)

Then I made an 8 inch continuous loop out of 1.7 dyneema to use as a prusik and also made another smaller continuous loop sandwiches between the prussic and the UCR to use as a handle. Then I connected that prusik to the locked brummel with a larkshead.

You pull the prusik to keep everything tensioned.

It looks great, like it will hold better than amsteel on amsteel with diameter difference and adjustments are easier with your come along continuous loop?

So the little locked eye simply slides on the yellow Amsteel with the work being done by the light green prussik? Nice. The 1.75 probably bites the Amsteel well and the loop handle keeps things easy to deal with. I like it..

Interesting how so many viable options exist that accomplish the same thing... g

    Great job.

It's working really well and with the small diameter prusik it bites down really well. The adjustments are quite easy.

Yes! I add the little pull loops to all my prusiks. Even on ridgelines, it makes them very easy to adjust.

I have those same pull loops.. handles.. but I limit prussik knots as much as possible. I have only one set of them on rarely used SLS. I hate prussik knots..
