Tyvek usually for my hammock welcome mat. Just enough to sit my bag and shoes on

I carry a heavy duty contractor grade trash bag. it has many uses including ground mat for under the hammock. I also use it to protect down jackets and quilts in hikes where rain is possible.

2x3 sheet of tyvek with grommets in the corners for windy days.

Started with just plastic, then a blue 1/2 tarp. Both are slick and cold.
Now I've been using a small canvas painters drop cloth. I put 4 grommets in the corners and soak it with Sawyer Permethrin as to cut down on insects, not as slick and feels better on the feet.

    Ground sheet

    I dropped a whole $0.99 on a 4x6 tarp from Ollie's (a regional surplus/closeout retailer) for this purpose.

I like this idea! I have seen rubber backed drop clothes. Is your drop cloth waterproof if so did you do it?

No, it's just an old used one I had. It has so much old paint on the ground side it's kinda water resistant. Lol
When I see the small ones on sale somewhere, I was thinking of grabbing a few and try spraying scotchgard or water repellant on it to see if that works.
Maybe even sewing some tough ripstop nylon on the ground side. Got a few ideas to play with before spring. I may look for those rubber backed ones but I'm pleased for now with the canvas soaked in bug repellent and then dry. It has lasted all summer and no bug prob so far. It's good as long as your not in a mud puddle lol

Tyvek if I use anything at all. Depends on the weather.
