What’s your favorite place to hang in NJ

I’d like to camp Christmas Eve with my brother.
Where is your favorite place to hang?
    Open to anywhere in jersey.

    Thanks!

    The Pine Barrens is nearby.

Is that your favorite place to hang in jersey?
Better than the water gap or high point areas?
Any specific sites in PB you like?

Up north there are just too many people. I took a hike at the Delaware Water Gap and saw 40 people in one hour. Not my thing.

In the winter, nobody goes to the Pine Barrens. You pretty much have the place to yourself. Even in summer (and I don't camp much in summer), I rarely see anyone hiking. I like Lower Forge the best; it's hard for casual hikers to make it 6.5 miles in. Mullica River is only a four-mile hike, but I've actually seen people drag a cooler and a boom box that far. Batona and Hawkin Bridge are good for car camping.

Right. We’ll be on motorcycles. No hiking to get in but possible hiking after we build camp. Was thinking north for mountains and views but not against PB. I’ve camped in PB twice and it’s nice.

I second the Pine Barrens. And I second Mullica for the hike in and Batona for car camping. All for the same reasons. In winter, you can have the whole place to yourself. It's such a unique place. I live in PA and would rather spend a quiet, solitary night at Batona than any of the places I've been here in eastern PA.

I only have two Pine Barren trips under my belt. So the Pine Barrens is the only thing I know
