I was wondering what webbing it was that appeared in your earlier video for the Fish Hook. Looks pretty sweet. Congrats on all these interesting new products, Brandon & crew.
Thanks...yeah it’s been a busy year to say the least
That looks like a cool product, but it seems like more and more places are requiring 2 inch straps.
I'll personally never use 2". I think it's silly splitting hairs between the two. I'm sure some arborists and engineers can do the math, psi, fancy charts, etc. showing how different they are. But at the end of the day, if my 1" is that harmful, I'd rather just be a horrible person and break the rules and kill trees with my straps.
Very cool, exciting to see so many new products and options coming from our beloved Warbonnet people!
If a 400 lb person can hang from 2" straps and that is ok then wouldn't a 200 lb person using 1" straps be exerting the exact same force per inch? It's too bad they didn't bother talking to the hammock community or hammock manufactuers before making those rules. Are there studies that have been done that documented trees have been killed from 1" straps?
I could see offering a 2" option at some point, but I don;t think anybody is doing any damage with 1", at least not on most tree types.
If I recall correctly from the HYOH podcast episode that had the Education Director from Leave No Trace, based on their data-driven studies, they recommended 3/4" straps. So 1" should be quite safe for most types of trees, I would assume.

Please don't kill the messenger. I use mule tape on my own property and there is no damage to the trees. I was only pointing out that State Parks are requiring 2 inch straps, not agreeing with the policy.
I will be using this suspension when it becomes available.
I only use the Becket Hitch.
