SLOVAKIA: Vapenna peak - frosty kingdom

The first enjoyable snow here in Small Carpathians. Freezing night, no wind, just the sound of the iced snow flakes falling on the tarp. Silent night on the ridge.

Wow. Stunning pictures and what a place to sleep. I wouldn't have the clothing to battles this type of weather though. What boots do you wear to keep your feet warm and dry?

Wow! That's gorgeous. Looks like solitude to me, assuming you have all the proper gear.
We are now ready to start our way down the Great Unknown. We are three quarters of a mile in the depth of the earth. We have an unknown distance yet to run, an unknow river yet to explore. What falls there are, we know not; what rocks beset the channel, we know not; what walls rise over the river, we know not. Ah, well! We may conjecture many things. The men talk as cheerfully as ever; jests are bandied about freely this morning; but to me the cheer is somber and the jests are ghastly. Powell 1869

Hi, no special shoes at all, just regular hiking shoes /high heel/. I use them in summer and winter too. The temperature rating depends on the socks used.

However, in very cold conditions, if you dont move for a long period, your feet will be cold anyway

Well, if that was in a day's drive I would be on my way. Spectacular!
If you prepare for failure you will probably succeed.

Wow, you are soooo lucky to have such incredible hanging locations near to you. You should make a 2019 Hammock calendar with your photos.. They are that good. Just sayin'. I would buy it.
