Anyone have some good hammock camping experiences in Florida? I was looking at Lake Kissimmie State park.

There's really no "bad" hammock camping in FL. Some of the state parks are more difficult than others. It's only recently we got the OK from the state to hang at all (thanks to Samsara). Most parks let you hang with at least 1" wide straps on trees of at least 12" diameter at head height. Others have actually sunk poles (6x6 I think) in designated hanging locations. Best bet is just to call or do some online research before you go.
I second Zukiguy-check reserveamerica.com before you go. While the sites I randomly checked allowed hammocks, some parks only allow them in certain sites. Ocala Forest allows hammocks and has good camp sites also.
Look in the trip planning in the next day or so for a group hang the weekend before Christmas.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.
This one is one Tamiami Trail. I guess some places in Florida are better than others.

I'm pretty sure it started out that way but I just grabbed this off a FL State Park Rules page:
"Hammock use and any other associated lines may be attached to trees that are minimum of 12 inches in diameter measured at chest height and using a minimum of 1 inch wide flat web straps. Some parks may provide hammock posts instead of trees."
So....it looks like your tarp should actually be on webbing straps as well. So far I haven't had any problems just using cordage but in a pinch I can rig my tarp to the same tree straps as the hammock.
