    Hi from NC

    Hello all,
Name is John and I am a long time lurker, but only recently been posting (I joined in 2012). I started hammocking in 2005 with a Hennessy which quickly got the zip mod and better suspension. I move to a WBBB in 2012 with hammock gear fluffy stuff and just ordered a Ridgerrunner for more length and some arrowhead underquilts as i'm trying to get back into camping/backpacking after a 5 year suspension of those activities to allow for schooling and rearing little ones...I've got 2 kiddos, a 5yo boy and an almost 3 yo girl (who wants to "go car camping and outside camping" really soon). 2 doggos, a 1.5yo labradoodle and a 12wo something (waiting on dna results from her).

I historically enjoy backpacking (and camping in general) and started to bikepack about a year ago before i moved away from my VA crew back to NC.

I enjoy modifying and building things and have a quilting mother who is a semi-pro thread injector (i know how to use a sewing machine, it just might not be super pretty.)

Currently in grad school and make a trip from NC to TN about 1x a month for this.

Hello from the Triangle. You just missed the family friendly Halloween Hunger Hang at Medoc Mtn. The 3rd Annual Frosty Butt Hang is coming in January.

Due to the anticipated colder weather probably not child friendly.

Welcome from Charlotte. NC is a beautiful place with lots of great places to spend time outdoors.
Crayons - they might look different, but they all taste the same

    Another welcome from Charlotte.
Lots of great places to hang in N.C.
If you are looking to start backpacking again, there’s a book by Joe Miller on Backing North Carolina that’s worked well for me. Lots of weekend trip ideas.
