    i use an overhand slip knot. I then tie the working end around the standing end with another overhand. Simple and permanent.

    I've used tons of hog rings building chicken and waterfowl pens. I don't think I would want them near light nylon. A simple overhand knot works for me.

    Figure 8 as others say. I’ve put figure 8s in small cord that I’ve actually tried to get out after they were loaded. No dice on untying them... it works on shock cord also.

    The overhand would work also, especially once loaded, and pulled tight. That said, the figure 8 is one more loop around, and stronger.
