    DCF hex tarp; packed down

I am interesting in moving from my Warbonnet Edge silnylon tarp to an 11 ft DCF hex tarp. Ive enjoyed using the Edge tarp but want to cut some weight. I love the packability of silnylon but know DCF is bulkier. I cant get a good sense of how big a 11ft DCF hex tarp packs down to. Most of the photos and videos just shows the tarp put up, or its one with doors, or its 12ft with a bunch of doo-dads and dutch bling.

Can anyone provide feedback or photos of an 11ft DCF hex tarp packed up? THe only 2 photos I could find online made one look the size of a beer can, the other made it look like 2 nalgenes side by side which is quite different.

    Thanks for your help folks!

I have to say, as a weight conscious hiker, the one thing that turns me off time and again from DCF is the bulk. I want, but I love how packable silpoly is. I’m on the edge at my latest purchase of a 15d tarp...

The bulk of cuben fiber doesn't bother me at all. My previous silnylon and polyester tarps fit in an outside pocket of my backpack, and my HG Winter Palace also fits in the same outside pocket. Is there a difference in bulk? Sure, but nothing that affects me.

Even though I didn't like the DCF for other reasons, I didn't find the bulk an issue at all. In this photo, imagine taking it and stuffing it inside your pack towards the outside after everything is packed. It's slick material and compresses to about half that thickness when sliding in.

So Im currently going over every item in my kit to see where I can cut weight.

My tarp is a place I can save 6oz or so. So Ive been looking into DCF to replace my silnylon Edge tarp. The edge can compress to the size of a baseball and disappears into the pack. I use a 30 liter pack, so space and weight are something I need to consider.

It might not be worth it switch to the DCF...
