12' Cat Cut Tarp - First Attempt

I've been wanting to attempt making a tarp with the Silpoly stuff but have not wanted to spend the money just to find out that I'm terrible at sewing long distances or that working with the lighter stuff is too much of a pain. Well, Riptstop had a sale on some 2nds quality 1.1oz silpoly so for $40 I figured it was worth the risk....

It ended up being a combination of UGQ's grosgrain seam across the top and Jellyfish's rolled hems on the sides and bottom. While it's not "perfect" (I *might* of had one too many before some of my sewing attempts), it definitely turned out better than I had hoped.

Oh, did I mention that the 2nds Quality stuff on sale was NEON GREEN?!?!?! I don't think I'm going to have any trouble finding my way back to my hammock in the dark with this stuff!

Sorta jumps out at you, huh? LOL. Like Bolting Carcass said, it's awesome. Congratulations on sewing your own tarp.

Does it plug in or is it battery operated?

Seriously though, there's nothing like making your own stuff. Nicely done!

Nice job! I love the color choice too.
    I sew things on youtube.
I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.

I do too! My wife makes fun of me for liking "obnoxiously bright" things. I have been iffy about getting a tarp like that because I hadn't seen one set up. Not anymore. My winter tarp will be bright.

HUGE thanks to you for all your YouTube videos! I would never have even thought about attempting it had it not been for your informative, detailed, and extremely clear examples and PDF files. Thank you so much for taking the time and going through the efforts that you have to provide such helpful information to newbs like me for free!

    Thank you Jellyfish!
