    Standard vs wide burrow?

Hey! I ordered my Econ HG top quilt. 20°, Standard length, standard width, 2oz overfill. I don’t plan on doing much ground camping, but what are experienced users thoughts on getting the wide option? I’m 5’6” and... “cough” 198 lbs. I don’t mind paying the extra if the consensus thinks it’s better or have had the experience of wishing they had gotten the wide option.

I'm 5'11" and 165 lbs. I don't think you're in need of wide - that's for really wide, rotund people. I think of a 360 lb. friend who always buys wide quilts - and yes, he is wide so he probably needs them.

Now if you were 298 lbs., that would be a different story - probably want to check out a wide.

I just had a 10° Econ burrow wide delivered about two weeks ago and I do wish I ordered the regular. However I may end up having the odd time going to ground (Scout Camps) so I may change my mind after that happens. So if you strictly use for hammock camping go with the regular.

Otherwise, the quilt is very warm and soft. I slept in it last night down to -12°c and I stayed very warm.

I’m in that same boat as both my kids are in Scouts right now and sometimes I don’t have the option to hammock camp. I’ll probably keep what I ordered, but won’t know for sure until I get it. I also got zippered foot box. What did you all get and what are your thoughts?

You have restrictions on hammocks at Scout camp? Heck, we have council leadership in hammocks in our camp.

Nope, no restrictions in our group. Just locations that we camp.

The regular should be plenty wide unless you are a very wide person. I'm 5' 7" and 150 lbs, have a Burrow Econ 20 wide (standard length), and notice an air pocket above my chest in the hammock. Not a big deal, just a little more to tuck in order to snug it up in cooler temps.

Personally I go the opposite of many of the folks replying. I go wide if at all possible but, there are times when I have no choice but to go to ground or am in the camper. Either of these sleeping options work better with the wide width no matter who the vendor is.

I prefer the wide quilts so I can wrap them around me more inside my hammock. Also there are times when I need to sleep in a tent based on no trees/restrictions. In those cases I am glad I have the wider quilt. I didnt think I would ever go to ground, but sometimes the reality is you will.
