Cool ViDEO: Shug Takes a 2 Night Snow-lo on Superior Hiking Trail

Had a wonderful time in the Minnesota Northwoods for 2 nights.
Peaceful and got down to -7ºF -21ºC
No one out there but me and the critters.
    So fun~~~~~

Very nice. Thanks for the intel on the snow staking method, I've been struggling with this. I just picked up some MSR big fat wide snow stakes not long ago and I think I'm going to definitely steal that method, looks brilliant.

    Straight out of Clayton.

Most physical hike: Grandfather Mountain, NC. Aug 13.

I don't need to make my pack lighter. I need to make my (_*_) lighter.

Another nice video. I found a spot almost like that up here. Love going there in the winter. Something about winter camping that is good for the soul. Take care.

Shug, do you use any extra insulation with the 0 degree UQ and TQ, given that the lows were about -7F? I recall others saying to consider gear to be comfortable only for 10 degrees above their rating. Planning for a January of February hang near Ottawa.

Thanks Shug. Really enjoyed watching. Admired your fire. What did you use to get it started so quickly. One match and within seconds a reasonable blaze. Liked the idea of pre-cooked food. Never thought of doing that with pancakes. Bet they were delicious.

It works really well and can pitch down at night and porch up in the day easily.

Plenty of birch bark tucked inside and a small fire cube and a stormproof match.....https://www.rei.com/product/898079/u...roof-match-kit
    The pancakes were scrumptious.
