    Need some help

made a topquilt 7 years ago and recently converted it to an underquilt without putting in darts for the top shell. Doh!

I tried it over night and it's just a 2" pancake.

Basically it's a greylock style width with wider baffles. Flat it puffs up to 6" with 3" baffles.

    Specs are 72x42 3" baffles.

Now here's the question... How much do I dart on the 6 baffles? So I can let enough space so it lofts and doesn't get pancaked.

It's on a grizz bridge btw if that helps.

    Thanks

Maybe you'll find an answer in the DIY sub-forum?

First thing to check is that you don't have too much tension on the ends .... it shouldn't flatten because you forgot darts ... that really smacks of being pulled too tight up against the hammock.

You might also mention what style of hammock, if it's GE then I suspect the above issue is more likely the culprit IMO.

He’s probably meaning darts to create a differential.

That’s my guess also. Maybe check out the “faux baffle” technique for the Costco quilts. It may allow someway to get a differential in. Are your baffles running across, or along the length of of the hammock?

You are correct just forgot the terminology. I fixed it. Just had to fold over about 5" of fabric to make the inner shell narrower. I was hanging it from just the corners so I sewed in length wise channels and now it's fine.

    Thanks
