    Tyvek UQ protector?

I am a DIY kinda guy and was wondering if anyone has used tyvek as an addition to there UQ ? I have a DIY Costco UQ and looking to increase the insulation factor some. Thinking maybe that a tyvek addition would help . Anyone doing this or have any input ?

Tyvek is not very breathable and would trap condensation. Which would be worse all around in freezing temps.

I wouldn't use Tyvek as an UQP - I agree with pgibson.

The best way to add insulation to a costco blanket is yet another costco blanket. You can also try faux-baffling one if you need something to spend you time on.

If you need an emergency UQ protector for wind or storms, consider ultra-light painters plastic which is conveniently cut into hammock-size proportions. $3 or less at your local hardware store.

FYI - I've been using soft tyvek as a sock for years - works great and no condensation issues down to 22F. Adds a good 15F but better yet, blocks all drafts.
However, soft tyvek (kite tyvek) is light but bulkier than a nylon UQP.
This post has the info. One mod I did make was to cut a "V" neck opening and move the drawstrings about 8" off to each side.

I like that, and think covering just your lower half with that tyvek sleeve is a great idea. I some similar things like in sub 30 degree temps I'll often roll my reflectix sit pad into a tube and slide it into my footbox. Nice and toasty, and the big opening at the end of the tube provides a type of venting. I also have an SOL Escape Bivvy I modified the same way you modify a sleeping bag to work like a top quilt. It supposedly "breathes", regardless it works great when layered in with a top quilt.
Crayons - they might look different, but they all taste the same
