Any South East Hammock Overlander Groups out there?

This has just come to my attention recently.

    Overlanding that is.

I picked up a M416 in March but It needs a little work in the tub floor.

I am seeing a lot of these Overland folks put racks and RTT on them.

So I am thinking I could get the whole family to participate whilest I rig my hammock in the trees.

My take, FWIW, is that the TrailNest is too expensive for its narrow application. In a world where something way more versatile and less expensive like the Tensa4 exists--which I can deploy in my truck bed if I really want to sleep on my vehicle--I can't see buying a TrailNest. It's cool, no doubt, and there's a potential for some improved views from an elevated hang spot. But for $500 I can do better.

This is just one person's opinion, though it's worth saying that I'm a gadget addict and should be naturally inclined to buy this thing. I think if you have an overland trailer in tow, there's even greater potential for a cheaper custom solution.

Edited to add: Sale pricing on the double stand is $500. That's pretty good if you have two hangers and are committed to sleeping on your roof. I still wouldn't get one, though, because I wouldn't want to be tied to sleeping on my roof... pun partially intended.

Yeah after chewing on this a day or two I would rather have a RTT and take my hammock to the ground. Let the kids stay in the tent. $$$$ though.

If you're not already on ExPo, check out their FS section. RTTs always come up for sale there. I suspect you're already registered, though, if you've got an M416 project going...!
