Has anyone actually done the canvas tent/wood stove/snow bank setup from ultimate hang?

In the Ultimate Hang 2's Staying Warm section there's a two page spread of a comfy looking long term hammock setup. The hammocker is hanging within a snowbank, covered by a canvas tent, with a wood stove providing heat:

As a southeastern hanger I would never be able to do this myself, but I'm wondering if anyone else has attempted anything like this, or if it's just a novel idea from Derek.

It looks really cool and fun to build. However, it seems like once you warm up the canvas tent, the walls from your snow trench would melt, causing a big wet mess under your hammock. I'd like to hear more about this.

I've spent quite a few nights in a canvas wall tent, before hammock times, sleeping on a cot or on the ground during the late fall, early winter in Montana and Wyoming. I've also had friends and former family that wintered in wall tents, teepees, and army tents all in Montana. A good canvas tent coupled with a decent wood stove can be a hospitable abode when the need arises or the preference is such.

My dad set up his 10-man arctic military tent a couple weeks a go as usual for deer hunting. It does great with the cheap-ish wood stove from Sportsmans Guide. It was surprisingly dry when packing up after 4 days. The snow was even an icy/wet/sticky type on the last night. That thing is probably big enough for a Tato stand inside!

I got my hot tent from Smokehouse on this forum. He makes them in different materials. I went with the fire retardant material.
