My first experience dispersed camping in a national forest -- It was an easy 3 mile hike down to the river. I was sure to camp 100ft from the river, but it was still probably the most beautiful place I've ever camped.

My father took me to a site on that river where he had gone when he was my age then. (14) I have never forgotten it. Like wise, about 3 miles down the mountain from the highway. No idea exactly where now, it has been so long. Great trip. Have been backpacking ever since.
Since I retired, some times I stay awake all day, some times all night.

I have to say, I love hanging where it would be impossible to set up a tent.
