This is an intriguing design. However, I already have invested in several UQs and TQs. Also an integrated UQ can't be mixed/matched with other hammocks, and the color choices are too limited. I see how it could shave off weight though for serious backpackers. For car campers like me (with much gear), though, it's a miss. Oh, and its not 11' long and probably too narrow for me at under 62" wide.

    Dutch,

Do you plan to carry the bug net? If so it is removable or sewn on (their website does not specify that fact)? Do you know if they plan on making a solid top cover?

    Two final thoughts:
1.) This is a little late for me as I just finished sewing a Warbonnet Wookie UQ on to the bottom of my WBBB XL (than I had Brandon custom make me with a sewn on 1.1 top cover).
2.) I am a bit disappointed that you (da man Dutch) did not come out with this insulated configuration yourself!

The 10 foot bottom entry works perfect with this hammock. They plan on coming out with a solid top but not like you have seen before. There will be a whole system that will be called the superior system that has modular components.

Come out with my own insulated hammock??? I give, I give and you ask for more... Actually stay tuned my friend, stay tuned.

Might be cool if there was a top quilt that would use the snaps to make the cocoon like the Spears Pea Pod system I've seen in one of Shug's videos (can't remember the guy who owned it but it had like 54 oz of Down in it I think he said...

I am very interested in insulated hammocks for long distance and thru hikes. I want a simple setup that will optimize comfort at the end of a long.

Im curious, the one thing shock chord on an UQ does that I like is keeps the UQ snug around my shoulders or body. Without shock chord, do these insulated hammocks still hug the body or does the top quilt need to be tucked more securely?

Can anyone chime in with experience using an insulated hammock? Specifically how does the lack of shock-chord affect the way the UQ snugs up to the body??

I have used my Sheltowee Boone for years now. It is a little different with some adjustments you can make but the principle. The big advantage to the insulated hammock it there is no real adjustments. It is solidly on the hammock body and there are no gaps.

Hey Dutch, yeah Im totally on board with the advantages of the insulated hammock. I guess Im wondering more about how the underquilt acts without shock-chord snugging it up to the body.

Does it sort of loosely hover under you? Does it still snug up to the body? Is tucking the TQ going to be a bigger factor in staying warm?

I would assume getting a proper hang is more important with a sewn in UQ to ensure the body is making the best contact possible
