CubenFiber Dry bag for Zpacks Arc Haul

    Hi

May I ask you here something. I have 1/2 yard of 0.8 dyneema composite fabric. The idea is to make a dry bag for my quilts to stuff in the bottom of my Zpacks arc haul or ULA Circuitry. I can see, zpacks have some bags in their offer with all the data needed. Cant get rid of the sensation that those are small.

Does anybody have a exact size measured for the dry bag with square bottom? Anybody have done this? It should accommodate 0 degrees set of quilts. The dry bag should be as high as the backpack, to have enough room to roll down. Maybe to use all the 1/2 yard?

    Thanks for hints and paintings

    Marek

I have one of their pack liner bags, if that’s what you’re talking about. It’s 19.5” wide by 37.5” tall and fits perfect in the ULA Circuit.

1/2 yard is what I always use (I’ve made them for many people) and it works out great. Cut your piece in half so you have two 18” x 27” pieces. Attach them along the 27” edges so that you end up with a flat bag that’s 18” wide (minus seam allowances) by 27” tall. Then square the bottom to your liking and hem the top with your Velcro and clips and you’re good to go. This size has been great for me with a 20* tq, 20* diy wookie, pillow, sleep clothes, and down jacket. It gets tight but it works fine once you compress everything.

Thanks !! Why do I need to cut the 1/2y piece in half? I was thinking to leave it one piece, and just fold it in half to seal it along both long edges. I will not use velcro, just buckles, so I will reinforce the opening hem with some grosgrain.

I have done it. 1/2y fits exactly the backpack size, I just cut the no cuben edges.

You’re correct, if you’re sewing it then you can just fold it. I cut it because I do fully taped seams which have to be overlapped. If not taping then folding is the way you’ll want to go, one less seam.
