stack ridgerunner on top of xlc so both hang from same trees?

is there a way to stack a ridgerunner on top of an xlc, so that both share the same trees?

my wife and i use xlc's when we go backpacking. we use poles to separate our hammocks, and with that setup we can both use the same trees. but she really dislikes gathered end hammocks, so i was planning to pick up a ridgerunner for her. and that got me wondering how to set up both ridgerunner and xlc to hang from the same trees.

Where there's a will there's a way but it may be hard for her to get in the hammock if it's on top.

Just spitballin'... but since the Ridgerunner requires a longer span due to the suspension triangles, and also because it uses less than a 30 degree hang angle, I wonder if you couldn't have the XLC's tree straps wrapped higher up the tree, then run the XLC suspension down through the Ridgerunner's suspension triangles.

The Ridgerunner would be on top, but the XLC would have its straps higher up on the tree.

if i had a ridgerunner i'd give it a try. i'm hoping to get one during the next sale. in the meantime, was hoping others who do have both a ridgerunner and xlc had given it some thought about stacking and see if others had come up with a solution or configuration that works. or tell me that it's not doable.

Stacking is something I just won't do. The old adage, "never hang higher than you want to fall" enters my mind. And I couldn't sleep at night if somebody was hanging in a hammock above me.

Yeah, I've tried some setups like this with my kids and it's always some level of failure. It looks cool on some catalog cover but trying to climb like a tree squirrel into a high-hung hammock and then get comfortable is a feat of gymnastics. Then....it's so much fun when nature calls at 3am.

As romantic as it sounds hanging under the same tarp, get a 2nd one and just pick 3 trees in a triangle. You can still be "together" by sharing the same central tree (maybe heads closer together) but you'll both be much more comfortable and weather tight. I'd bet she'll be much happier sleeping warm and dry as opposed to getting battered by wind or soaked by sideways rain because of the funky hanging setup you devised.

I can't imagine trying to hang a RR above or below any other hammock. Next to is one thing but stacked would be a feat that most would not be able to pull off. I have hung with my kiddos and my wife in a triangle type set up before and had tarps down tight to the outsides with them more raised in the middle to "wall" us off more, provides better privacy and a sense of safety as well as wind blocking while still being closer together.

One of those rare times the Sufr and I agree. My wife, The Terminator, has a RR but I would never want her hanging over or below me in case one of the suspensions failed. We always hang close together but on separate trees.

I not a fan of setting two hammock side side on one suspension as anytime one person moves, the other will feel said movement.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

thanks for the feedback everyone. i guess stacking is out. i still plan to get a ridgerunner for her, hopefully she'll be much more comfortable in that and will want to go out more often.
