NAMA Claw - Real World Test

I finally got to put my NAMA Claws through some real-world testing this past weekend at Stone Mt (NC) with two setups from Thurs-Sun. One tarp was using the NAMA Claws on Zing-It and the other tarp used my old setup of Zing-It with Prusik knots made from braided mason line of a smaller diameter.

The rain came in Friday morning and the winds came in Friday night and all day Saturday. While the Prusik knot setup never "failed" (all my gear remained dry), I did have to adjust them 2-3 times on Friday and again 2-3 times on Saturday just so that everything was nice and taught again. Meanwhile over on the wife's setup, I never had to mess with the tarp tensioned with the NAMA Claws once. The tarp remained just as taught through Sunday as it was when we set it up on Thursday. I was really impressed with them.

Again, the Prusik knots worked well enough to keep my stuff dry. I've never had my Prusiks slip on me before and when they did slip it was only about an inch on each side. I guess once the Zing-It and the Prusiks were nice and wet and the wind started blowing it was just enough to have them start slipping. But the claws just never moved. Another thing that I really liked about using the claws was that I didn't have to worry about dropping them or misplacing them because they are attached to the ridgeline (I didn't think about that benefit until I lost one of my Prusiks when I loosened it too much before re-hanging my ridgeline and had to dig around in the leaves to find it again).

I love using the Nama Claws. They hold great with no slippage at all, but can be a little tough to release if overtightened.

Same here. No problem with Nama Claws.

Do you think they will be convenient for a tarp without a continuous ridge line?

I have been using them on a continuous ridgeline and on my tie outs for a while now and they work wonderfully.

Here are some photos of my setup.
