Oh wow, that does seem like too much. You can’t even loop the shockcord back up like I can on mine. Have you by any chance measured the pole itself? I don’t have anywhere close to that big of a gap.

Seven 16" segments (not counting the part that slides interior at the joints), plus two .75" tips = 113.5 inches. I measured it together and got 113", so maybe each pole is 1/16 shorter than 16" ? Or maybe it is just hard to hold and measure a 9 foot pole

The claimed length is 112.5, so that would even shorter than what I am seeing now!

Then I wonder if your tarp is slightly wider or the pockets are slightly farther out. That’s really odd.

Unfortunately I can’t do a full setup today because the weather is horrible and I wouldn’t be able to tell much. I should be able to get mine pitched tomorrow or Saturday.

That is way more gap then my Superfly
But mine was done by Donna
Is warbonnet making them with the center pole mod now?
Or did you have it done someplace else?
I will go and measure my pole and report back

Warbonnet does them now, maybe starting a month or two ago?

I laid the tarp on the floor and with the pole in one pocket wanted to check where it fell as compared to the other. This is with no tension or stretch, so under the conditions of being pitched the pole would be even farther from the pocket.

(Full disclosure, I did email Warbonnet some questions to see what they thought. Awaiting a response.)

I’m sure they’ll get back to you. They’ve always been great when I’ve reached out to them.

Thanks for measuring! Your pole is shorter than mine, maybe the Warbonnet pole pockets are deeper? Warbonnet replied to my question and stated if I wanted to ship the poles back they would swap them for the Cloudburst poles. I hope I'm not making a mistake in trying to reduce that gap!

Thanks for measuring and the extra photo. With the same pole length, it must be be the width of the tarp. Maybe I got a couple extra inches of width at the center? Warbonnet is letting me swap poles for the ones made for the cloudburst, which are supposed to be longer, to see if that helps. Otherwise I may have to buy custom length poles somewhere.
