Snake skins were never on my radar... didn't really see the benefit.

This past weekend I tried a set of HH two piece skins as a trial run. First night was super windy and being able to deploy one end at a time was pretty nice. Same for when I was breaking camp. Second night was much calmer.

Can't say I am a convert.. yet... but I do see the value.

I'd have to think the noseeum skins are a better option than what I have simply for the benefit of being easier to dry out. Easy enough to make them if/when I get to that point.

The mesh skins don’t necessarily help the tarp dry faster, however mesh skins themselves dry MUCH quicker than the inside of solid skins.

I wasn't referring to the tarp drying faster.. I should have been clearer. I was referring to the inside of the skins as you noted. That said, it has been debated often whether the mesh allows the tarp to dry faster and in my experience using only noseeum stuff sacks for all of my tarps, it does. Granted, any water folded up in tarp doesn't dry but what is exposed does dry fast that had the tarp been in a solid stuff sack.

I agree, I was just adding to what you said. Since getting my mesh skins I haven’t been out in much bad weather so I haven’t been able to tell if there I some drying with the tarp itself while hiking. However I have noticed when hanging to dry my tarp, the mesh skins dry faster than solid skins.

For the money, I've been very happy with my Chill Gorilla snakeskins from AmazonSmile. One swallows my Sparrow w/ underquilt, top cover, & bug net. Another keeps my Fortress tarp ready to deploy.

I added cam snaps to my two-piece mesh skins and they work perfectly for me.

My wife gave me the Chill Gorilla as a "surprise" a while back. RidgeRunner and 12' tarp get swallowed up with ease. I hadn't really been in the market for skins but it's come in handy more than once. As I gravitate more and more to hammock-ing over tent camping I may upgrade.

My vote is for MountainGoat. She'll make whatever you want (one or two-piece), well made, and fairly priced. Send her some business if you don't want to do the sewing yourself. You won't regret it.

I use the HH Skins because that's what they carry here at MEC in Canada.

I keep them on my SuperFly. I haven't gotten anything for my MiniFly yet.

I may go looking for a one piece mesh just for the fun of trying new things.

Might even make it myself.
