    Hello from Florida

Hello all, husband to a tolerant and understand wife and father of 5yo and 2yo boys. Living in central Florida but originally from Maryland, I grew up camping and hiking in Pathfinders (a religious version of Boy Scouts) and am now getting back into it (when it's not like an oven outside). In my camping/hiking research I've noticed many references to hammocks and have purchased a few inexpensive ones so far. I hope to learn the basics here and gain enough info to avoid common pitfalls. Hoping to learn how to efficiently and inexpensively set up a few hammocks in the back yard without trees.

    Welcome, from the coast.

Don't knock the heat until after you've hung with us next year in July(No Underquilt Hang) and September(Summer's Last Gasp Hang).

This hiking cool(cold for Floridians) season, there will be a few more hangs before the New Year and the Big hang in January for HangCon 2019. Come on out and meet the great folk that hang in the woods and some full time hangers at home.

    See ya down the trail.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

Welcome to the forums from a guy just to your north. There are some great hangs held in Florida so you'll have plenty of opportunities to check out other equipment in person if you want. Keep an eye on the trip planning threads over in the Southeast forum.

Thanks for your reply, sounds great. The lingo is still foreign but I've figured out what 'a hang' means.
