Hmm, interesting idea. That would save alot of bulk! I’m not so sure it would work though: dyneema is so slippery and also the tying would be a pain because of the small size! But I would love to try it - if only I had any amsteel on my hands..

I don’t have any either or I would try it! The idea is essentially the same as a UCR. But you might be right about how slippery it is, the added circles you might need would just make the UCR more practical.

Hennessy ropes with a valdotain tresse

I’d be skeeeerd to use amsteel with any friction knot or slip and grip hitch—with hammock or supporting my weight. It can slide, char and turn black causing loss of rope and possible injury.
Don’t ask me how I know.
I do use friction hitches for tarps.
Valdotain tresse is best with suitable climbing ropes and used in conjunction with a mechanical climbing device that essentially lets you use a ratchet motion to ascend or descend.
It’s a really cool hitch. Climbers get loads of training for their safety—-their lives are on the line!

I no longer use my old Phantom Grappler Suspension—because it was not foolproof!!!
Haha haha the fool was in my shaving mirror.

I'm just a rec climber as well. I haven't climbed much this year but need to get back into it.

I've still got ~7 trees within 300' of my house with pull lines left in them just waiting on me.
