Sipsey Wilderness Area Fall Group Hang Hike 2018

A short video of the afternoon hike we took in the Sipsey Wilderness Area in northern Alabama. Nothing fancy. Enjoy.

Hey Bill I wish you would have come to the hang. It’s not like the first hangs we had a long time ago, we more or less are car camping because of the larger group of folks. But all this means is we eat some really good cooking. The fun is still there and the day hikes are just as great. We as a group have purchased a large tarp and poles and the rain is not a problem at all anymore. 30x30 awesome! Hopefully we have another hang soon.

Yes we was heading to the eye of the needle but we got lost somewhere down the creek and couldn’t remember if we went down creek or up creek? Turns out we went the wrong way and was up in Whiteoak for hours But we was heading towards shiprock I’m not good with directions, I was just following people. So I’m really not sure but we had a good time and looked at a fancy rock of some kind. We did end up going down creek then up creek walked in the creek and I didn’t get my feet wet but my boots got wet someone tried to skip a rock with no success. Maybe next time I’ll lead the hike. I’ll try my best to see which way the creek is flowing first

We're we near Sipsey creek at all? I want to see the big tree one day, I need someone to follow as I haven't been able to find it, the one day I tried, my map fell out of my backpack and I got lost. I was trying to cross a creek and my wiggy waders got full of water so I had to abort. Maybe someone could point me to Kinkock falls too, I went to kinlock shelter but didn't see the falls. Thomas, I just need to stick with you next time.

That Thomas sure does know his way around the woods. But Waaaayne, I could help you get to Kinlock Falls. All you have to do is hike past the shelter about 2 inches, turn left after Caney Creek, and it's all downhill from there.
