Best hammock for (really) tall people

So I am 6'9" and looking to find the best hammock for me for camping. Most "tall" hammocks are for people 6'2" which I don't consider tall.

I have a Clark NA but have come to realize I can't get comfortable because the hammock is too small for me.

Anyone on this forum as tall as I am or taller?

    Thanks!

I have a friend who is 6'8" and has a 12' SLD Trail Lair. He normally has the net unzipped and stuffed in he sack, but says he sleeps great in it. A cheaper route to test would be a 12' tree runner. I'm 5'9" so I can't help other than that. #shortguyprobs

BTW, he's also very broad in the shoulders if that matters.

My guess is you are going to need something between 11 and 12foot. I would not go longer than that. I'd go wider since we lay on a diagonal. 60 inches would be a good one to try.

And lastly only you are going to know what is truely comfortable so will have to experiment. I'd contact one of the great vendors here that will do custom work and have a 12'x60" simple gathered end no bug net. I believe these sell between 30-40 bucks. Choose the fabric based on your weight. I like thicker material it gives me more support.

You also need to consider when buying a longer than normal hammock you will need to buy a longer tarp and possibly have to modify the suspension to your under quilts.

My last tip. If you don't go to crazy on the fabric or color you can easly sell a hammock made by any of out top vendor.
You buy crap from a no name made in china you will never sell it here.

    Good luck.

I made a 12 footer out of HyperD XL last year. It measures 12'x6'. At 6' I can get lost in it.

Hmm... how much do you weigh?
My testing period is complete for the Big Guy and Luxury bridge hammocks, but the tallest guy I had was 6'5" or so... but 6'9" is going to be hard to beat I'd think.

If it makes sense for both of us- I'd be willing to offer a testing discount in exchange for feedback if that's an option that makes sense for you.
There is technically up to 8' of bedspace in the bridges.

I'm the guy in the video and I'm 5'10" for reference. Likely you may need to squirm a bit to get in and you'd need to sleep with your head under the bar; but there is enough length there for full support.

Please email me (below) if you're interested.

Personally I don’t consider myself tall (6’2”) even though I’m TallPaul.
I just have real short relatives.

Anyway I agree with the suggestions to try a basic 12’ gathered end hammock. And width does make a difference.

If you don't need a sewn-on bugnet or other fanciness, it's shockingly easy to make a GE hammock in under a minute, any length you want, for the cost of the fabric (RSBTR, Dutchware) and some Amsteel. Jared at SimplyLightDesigns does custom work FAST and well, too.

    Draumr XL

shoulder squeeze isn't even a possibility, and the new pad itself is 87 inches (over 7 feet)

I'm only 6'4", but I have had my brother who is 6'7" sleep in a couple different hammocks. I think he slept well in both-- once was a custom made 12' hammock (it's nearly 10' wide so not really something you'd likely buy, haha) and the other in a *wide* Chameleon (so 11' long and probably 70" wide) where he seemed to sleep well.

For myself, I've been sleeping in a 12' Simply Light Designs trail lair (always made with wide fabrics as I found standard width not quite wide enough when laying diagonal) for the last year or so and love it. I can't imagine you'd need more length or width than that, but I'll confirm what everyone else is saying-- it can take a little experimenting to find what works best for you personally.
