    Washing hammoc

Do you take out the continuous loops and ridge lines when washing?

I've never washed any of mine yet but I probably would remove them.

I don't. Since my machine has an agitator, I toss my hammock in a large lingerie bag before washing it on the gentle cycle. I've washed the same hammock ~50 times doing it that way, and it's in great shape.

Most lingerie bags I've seen are pretty small. I found a mesh laundry bag that's about the same size as a 13 gallon kitchen trash bag that does the trick though!

I don't remove the CLs and I definitely use a washing machine.

I hand wash mine in the sink or tub then hang it to dry. I don't wring it out, just push/squeeze it around. I have done both leaving the loops in and taking them out. When I take them out I inspect them to make sure they are up to snuff and don't need to be replaced

Delicates cycle in a front loader here, and I use liquid soap I make from soap berries.
I have a fiberglass rod from an old da’bird cat toy that I use to reinsert and push the loops through after washing. The fabric once got an odor from old oils I suppose.....I shave my head and apply coconut oil after. Some biokleen bac-out stain and odor remover took care of that. It also works well on five fingers and other gear.

Dive gear or kayaking type roll top water-proof bags can also be used as a small laundering device. Fill with some soap and water, add items, and shake it up.

I don't ever recall stumbling on this idea before and I never thought of it myself...I think this is a great idea. I typically use the more traditional hand washing or placing items in a dedicates bag in the washer, but I'll have to give this a try the next time my gear is due for a wash. Nothing ever really gets filthy enough that quick soaks and gentle washing doesn't remove everything, so I don't see why this wouldn't be a more practical solution for me.

I think they now make them just for this purpose, with a clear window in them, even. Seems like a good way to clean things while out on the trail, if needed.
