    My Friend Marty Gallimore

I am saddened today to hear of the passing of one of my new friends, Marty Gallimore owner of Wilderness Logics. I was just going to call him Monday to catch up. Even though it had only been 5 months since we met, every time I stopped by Marty was incredibly nice and had a story or two to share. I never felt that our relationship was owner/customer but more let two people with very common interest that could share a laugh or three each time we saw each other (I.E.- Friends). Always open to an idea and he had started working on one for me. Some of you may or may not know but Marty had second passion and it was fishing. He always had a tell to tell about his fishing trips.

If life has taught me anything is that finding someone that you can share a hobby or find common ground on something is not easily found. With Marty, I did not need had to look for it.

I have attached the link to his obituary not just to make our community aware as it has already been done; but to help Marty with his wishes by requesting that we all honor him by sending a gift to the Humane Society of the United States 1255 23rd Street, NW, Suite 450 Washington, DC 20037 or I think Marty would OK with your local animal shelter.

In close I would like to not say to my friend, Rest In Peace but “HANG IN TRANQUILITY

So sad. I talked with Marty many times over the years and I felt right away his friendship. I know Marty had a great love for dogs as we would always end up talking about dogs. He will be missed by many.
I like refried beans. That's why I wanna try fried beans, because maybe they're just as good and we're just wasting time. You don't have to fry them again after all.

Sad to hear. I got to meet Marty at Trail Days a few years back, he was a real nice down to earth guy.

Really sad to hear. Although I never met him, I've heard nothing but great things from many that have and what a great person he was. A great loss for sure.
My thoughts are with his family and friends.

Marty was well loved by all who knew him, as evidenced here on HF. I wish I had the opportunity to have met him. Sad times indeed. Looked at the Wilderness Logistics website and they appear to be closed..at least for now.

Got to speak with Marty several times as we had hoped to find a way to work together for some contract sewing...

While I don't claim to be an expert on the history; the brief explanation I got was that Wilderness Logics was founded as a way to help put some of the folks in the sewn goods industry back to work after some of the larger folks moved production out of the area. (Think Thomasville furniture which is the same name as the town WL is located in.) So Marty wasn't just sewing as a passion project, but as a way to put folks to work who needed it.

Hard to say where things will go...
Marty was a good guy to chat with, bounce ideas off, and collaborate with... but he also did all those things to help keep folks working.
I think the sincerest way for those who want to honor Marty's contributions to the hammock community would be to send business their way if and when they get going again.
Marty often praised his wive's ability to make a mean tarp in record speed. While I'm sure Marty was the cornerstone of the business I got the impression he had many qualified folks there that you can continue to trust.

    Condolences to his loved ones.

Such sad news to hear. My contact with Marty was often brief, but I could definitely tell how much of a great individual he was. Everything I've seen and read about him was nothing but praise and all things good. My condolences to all effected by his passing.

Lastly, thank you Marty for making my photography work a part of your website. Your legacy shall live on, good sir.

I never met Marty in person, but we chatted many times on the phone. Always thought of him as the nicest guy you could ever hope to meet.

My condolences to the family and WL team. Marty will certainly be missed.
